Aristolochia foetida Kunth

Name

Stinky Birthwort

Habit

perennial, scrambling geophyte < 2 m, tuberous taproot

Inflorescence

8-12 cm, odour barely noticeable (!)

Origin

 Mexico

The specific epithet "foetida" actually is somehow misleading as this plant does not smell bad at all.

One of the most admirable and attracive perennial species, it stays compact and flowers continuously from March to October.
